Position Overview
The Director IT Infrastructure is accountable for the IT infrastructure and operations (I&O) of the enterprise. This individuals’ responsibilities include the delivery of all third-party and internally managed IT infrastructure supporting business processes, services, and solutions across the global IT landscape. The effective delivery of these IT services is only achieved through well managed orchestration of people, products, providers and KPI driven processes.
Network & Connectivity – LAN/WAN, wireless, remote access (VPN, ZTNA), SD-WAN, network security.
Data Center & Compute – on-prem data centers, servers, virtualization, high-performance computing.
Cloud Infrastructure – public/private/hybrid cloud, multi-cloud management, governance.
Storage & Backup – SAN/NAS, backups, disaster recovery, data archiving.
End-User Computing – workstations, VDI, endpoint management, mobile device management.
Collaboration & Communication – unified communications, email/messaging, conferencing tools.
Monitoring, Operations & Continuity – performance monitoring, automation, incident management, business continuity planning.
On Site Services and Operations (OSS) – lead the team of OSS at our manufacturing sites
This individual will have exceptional technical infrastructure experience, strong knowledge of service delivery, robust project management acumen and excellent vendor management skills, in addition to a superior, service-oriented approach to infrastructure operations. The ability to partner with and work through our IT services provider, and vendor relationships will be critical to success.
Note: This is a hands-on leadership role, with high expertise in multiple areas of infrastructure required to lead a small but empowered team that manages all our infrastructure and operations today. The team and business will look to this leader for setting technology direction, making decisions and driving improvements. Sensitivity to regional needs and operations, and familiarity with manufacturing related IT infrastructure including OT requirements will be a plus.
Essential Functions
- Leads the mission and vision of the I&O organization to foster a business-oriented culture and mindset, driven by continual service improvement and responsiveness.
- Partners with IT leadership peers to align the I&O service strategy, technical roadmaps, and application/security initiatives with overall IT and enterprise strategic plans, supporting global growth and transformation.
- Manages a global team with sensitivity to local laws, rules, and regulations, ensuring effective leadership across geographies.
- Leads the service portfolio and governance to prioritize resources, budgets, and capabilities, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed-on business outcomes.
- Acts as a trusted advisor to the IT teams, the CIO and business executives, building strong relationships to ensure cost-effective, agile, and outcome-driven service delivery.
- Develops and manages I&O budgets (opex and capex) in alignment with IT and enterprise strategic objectives and financial plans.
- Provides strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, operation, and support of IT systems, including full lifecycle technical architecture, infrastructure engineering, operations, and IT service support.
- Maintains currency on emerging technologies and champions innovation efforts to integrate new solutions that create business value, and drive cost and performance optimization.
- Works with HR and IT leadership to develop a talent strategy, forecasting skills and competencies needed to build a capable, agile, and future-ready I&O workforce.
- Drives organizational maturity by evolving from a project-driven to a service-centric operating model, adopting Agile, SIAM, and continual service improvement practices
Qualifications
Experience
-
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 12+ years in global IT and business / industry experience
- 10+ years in global IT leadership responsibilities,
- Leadership and project management I&O solution delivery
- Preferably five or more years of experience in large, cross-functional teams influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders effectively across the organization and with complex contexts
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organization design and development
- Proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments.

- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate an I&O vision and delivery model that inspires and motivates staff and aligns with the IT and business strategy.
- Ability to build a strong partnership with the business and demonstrate the business value of IT
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment in which resources may not be in direct control of this role
- Excellent analytical, global strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
- Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units
- Expertise in budget planning and financial management of IT resources
- Deep understanding of current and emerging I&O and application technologies and practices, and how other enterprises are employing them
- Application of appropriate regulatory or statutory compliance, including SOX, GDPR, and information security
- Success in leveraging traditional best practices, such as ITSM, as well as emerging methods, such as DevOps, that are optimized for agility
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic people plan that ensures the right people are in the right roles at the right time, and employees are highly engaged and satisfied
- Practical experience in developing and implementing a high-performing ITSM environment and knowledge of "what good looks like"
- Deliver effective service management through the definition and adoption of a governance practice that uses KPIs and metrics to track and measure the quality of service. Integrates them with key accountabilities to ensure consistency of approach and continual service improvement
- Strong vendor management and partner relation skills to identify and leverage resources internal and external to the enterprise to enhance capabilities that support business objectives
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the I&O workforce
