Position Overview
Design and execute a best-in-class operations and safety training strategy that improves frontline performance, reduces risk, and accelerates onboarding across Hexion’s global manufacturing footprint. Serve as a catalyst for frontline excellence by developing targeted training programs, delivering scalable learning content, and partnering with site and functional leaders to embed a culture of continuous learning and operational discipline.
Job Responsibilities
Training Program Design & Execution
- Develop and maintain comprehensive EHS and Operations training curricula for hourly operators, maintenance technicians, and first-line leaders (FLLs).
- Create modular, site-adaptable training materials that reflect both global safety standards and local operating conditions.
- Partner with L&D and site leaders to co-deliver operator onboarding programs, new hire readiness pathways, and annual refresher trainings.
Field Implementation & Engagement
- Travel regularly to Hexion production facilities (estimated 50–60%) to assess training needs, pilot programs, and coach trainers.
- Serve as a hands-on implementation leader, working directly with plant managers, EHS coordinators, and operations supervisors to embed programs at the site level.
- Conduct train-the-trainer workshops and build internal site-based capability for sustainable delivery.
First-Line Leader Development
- Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to align on FLL capability-building initiatives, including safety leadership, shift handovers, team communications, and root cause response.
- Evaluate and continuously improve FLL onboarding and developmental pathways across plants.
Program Management & Measurement
- Define key metrics for learning effectiveness and safety performance uplift.
- Monitor compliance with mandatory training requirements and continuously close performance gaps identified through audits, incident reviews, or KPIs.
- Drive standardization and knowledge transfer across regions, ensuring that high-impact learnings are rapidly scaled.
Candidate Profile
Experience:
- 7+ years experience
- Experience in manufacturing, EHS, or operations—preferably with blended experience in safety leadership and frontline operations training.
- Demonstrated success in designing and delivering training programs across geographically dispersed industrial sites.
- Experience operating in a matrixed, cross-functional organization.
Attributes:
- Self-starter with strong execution skills; comfortable operating independently in dynamic field settings.
- Strong communicator and coach, capable of translating technical and safety content into accessible learning for diverse frontline audiences.
- Respected change agent who builds trust and credibility with hourly workers and senior operations leaders alike.
- Passion for building a learning culture that drives safety, reliability, and performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in chemical manufacturing or process industries.
- Certifications in instructional design, adult learning, or EHS (e.g., ASP, CSP).
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms or e-learning authoring tools.
