Position Overview

This position is responsible for mechanical design and development of Smartech process systems and equipment, including full ownership of system documentation and technical drawings. This role contributes to the development and improvement of current and future products and works closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure robust, manufacturable, and high-quality solutions. 

Job Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems as part of the Smartech Mechanical Engineering team. 
• Define and manage system configurations and assemblies using SolidWorks and PDM systems. 
• Generate detailed production drawings and serve as the primary mechanical interface for manufacturing-related matters. 
• Investigate and resolve manufacturing, assembly, and field-related mechanical issues, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions. 
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to improve product quality, cost, and manufacturability. 
• Execute design tasks independently in accordance with product roadmaps, engineering change orders (ECOs), and documentation standards. Support and lead engineering change processes, including design updates, documentation revisions, and implementation through production. 
• Manage design activities in alignment with project timelines, budget constraints, and technical requirements. 
• Support products throughout their lifecycle, from concept and development through manufacturing, testing, installation, and ongoing production support. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure successful project execution. 
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and ensure compliance with internal design standards and best practices. 
• Support manufacturing and suppliers through periodic on-site visits, including occasional international travel. 
• Contribute to special engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering – required. 
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design of industrial equipment, process machinery, or multidisciplinary systems. 

OTHER SKILLS:  

• Background in process industries or capital equipment design, with a solid understanding of industrial processes and system integration – an advantage 
• Experience working with multidisciplinary systems, including mechanical integration with piping, pumps, sensors, motors, and control systems. 
• Experience designing and integrating industrial machinery, skids, process equipment, or automated systems. 
• Experience operating within manufacturing environments and collaborating closely with production teams, suppliers, and subcontractors. 
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for design and detailed drawings – mandatory; experience with PDM systems – an advantage. 
• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. 
• Experience supporting products through the full lifecycle, from concept and design through manufacturing, testing, and ongoing production support. 
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently solve complex engineering challenges. 
• Excellent computer literacy and technical software proficiency. 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with internal teams, customers, and suppliers. 
• Team-oriented, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams locally and internationally. 
• Fluent in Hebrew and English (written and spoken).
