Position Overview
The Business Analyst role is crucial in operationalizing the most urgent data and analytics initiatives for Hexion’s business. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in all aspects of data analytics, including mining, modeling, and visualization. Additionally, the successful candidate is committed to transforming data into readable, goal-oriented insights that drive innovation and growth. This role involves close collaboration with Business functions and leaders to influence the design and delivery of priority analytical solutions to solve business problems. The right candidate will possess excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization, while maintaining a broad understanding of Hexion’s key business processes.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain leading-edge analytics systems, taking complicated problems and building simple frameworks
- Identify trends and opportunities for growth through analysis of complex datasets
- Analyze market trends, customer behavior, and competitor data to identify opportunities for business growth and competitive advantage
- Work closely with finance teams to conduct forecasting and profitability analysis for various business initiatives
- Collaborate with business functions to gather requirements, understand business challenges and develop analytical solutions
- Evaluate organizational methods and provide source-to-target mappings and information-model specification documents for datasets
- Create best-practice reports based on data mining, analysis, and visualization
- Evaluate internal systems to identify efficiency opportunities, problems, and inaccuracies, and develop and maintain protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data
- Work directly with business managers and users to gather requirements, provide status updates, and build relationships
- Work closely with project managers and business leads to understand and maintain focus on their analytics needs, including critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers
- Proactively analyze data to create content that answers key questions for stakeholders, with an eye on what drives business performance
- Create and maintain rich interactive visualizations through data interpretation and analysis, with reporting components from multiple data sources leveraging Hexion’s standard analytical platform

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analytics, computer science, statistics, mathematics, business, or another closely related field
- The ability to work and communicate effectively with both IT and business stakeholders
- Three or more years of experience reporting and/or data mining as a data analyst
- Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries, reports, and presentations
- Experience with SQL, Python, Azure, or R with aptitude for learning other analytics tools
- Experience should include working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in support of departmental and/or multi-departmental data management and analytics initiatives
- Experience with database and model design and segmentation techniques
- Strong understanding of data process flows and an analytical architecture
- Thorough experience working with Power BI or another popular data discovery, analytics, and BI software tool such as Tableau, Qlik, and others for semantic-layer-based data discovery
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple deployment environments including cloud, on-prem and hybrid
- A confident, energetic self-starter, with strong interpersonal skills
- The ideal candidate will have a combination of analytics skills and manufacturing industry knowledge
- SAP ECC system exposure with a firm understanding of at least one business functional area is a plus
