Position Overview
This is a remote position.
Hexion is a leading global producer of adhesives and performance materials that enable production of engineered wood products and other growing specialty materials. Aligned with the company’s focus on addressing our customers’ most pressing challenges, Hexion has committed that all new products will incorporate sustainable attributes by 2030. The Platform Growth Leader plays a pivotal role in defining and executing growth strategies across Hexion’s Building Materials business. The Platform Growth Leader owns the strategy, innovation pipeline, and product portfolio for a designated market platform (e.g., Fire Safety, Roofing & Insulation, Coatings & Adhesives, or Concrete & Asphalt).
In this highly visible leadership role, the Platform Growth Leader serves as the general manager for their market platform, responsible for understanding market needs, defining where and how Hexion will play, and leading cross-functional teams to deliver profitable, sustainable growth. This includes responsibility for the full innovation funnel—from opportunity identification and concept development through commercialization and lifecycle management.
This role requires a balance of strategic vision and commercial execution. The Platform Growth Leader partners closely with the Application Development & Technology Leader, Business Development Managers, operations, and technology teams to build differentiated solutions that leverage Hexion’s resin, coating, and surface technologies to meet customer needs and enable a smarter, safer, and more sustainable built environment.

Job Responsibilities
- Own the full strategic and commercial roadmap for a Building Materials platform, including definition of where-to-play and how-to-win choices.
- Develop and execute platform strategies aligned with Hexion’s growth objectives, sustainability goals, and innovation priorities.
- Lead the end-to-end innovation funnel, from discovery and concept development through commercialization and post-launch evaluation.
- Partner with Technology and Business Development to translate market needs into actionable technical programs and new product introductions.
- Manage portfolio health, including margin expansion, lifecycle management, and replacement strategies for mature products.
- Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturing readiness, cost competitiveness, and reliable supply for growth initiatives.
- Develop business cases and financial models to prioritize investments based on market potential, customer value, and return metrics (EBITDA, NPV, etc.).
- Engage directly with key customers, specifiers, and industry influencers to shape demand, identify unmet needs, and co-develop solutions.
- Serve as the internal voice of the market—translating customer and competitive insights into strategy and action.
- Monitor industry, regulatory, and technology trends to proactively identify threats and opportunities for the platform.
- Identify and evaluate inorganic growth opportunities (e.g., partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions) that align with Hexion’s strategic priorities and platform objectives.
- Support marketing communications and thought leadership efforts that position Hexion as a category leader in sustainable, high-performance materials.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Chemical or Materials Engineering, or related discipline required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of B2B marketing, product management, or business leadership experience in industrial materials, chemicals, or building products.
- Proven success developing and executing growth strategies that delivered measurable financial results.
- Strong command of strategic marketing and business frameworks (e.g., Playing to Win, Jobs-to-Be-Done, Portfolio Management).
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at multiple levels of the organization.
- Solid financial acumen with experience building business cases and assessing investment performance.
- Experience managing a product portfolio, including innovation pipeline and lifecycle optimization.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and leadership presence—able to align diverse teams and inspire action.
- High degree of commercial curiosity and strategic agility, with the ability to translate insights into growth initiatives.
