Position Overview

Role Purpose: Create clear, end-to-end visibility into how work actually happens across people, systems, and decision channels, and translate that understanding into credible future-state process and value stream designs that enable successful transformation and an environment of continuous improvement.

Role Accountability: The Transformation Process Leader is accountable for establishing process truth and enabling grounded future-state design across transformation workstreams. This role ensures initiatives are based on how work truly operates, not assumptions, documentation, or opinion.

Signature Capability: Can spend an hour with operators, leaders, or SMEs and independently produce a ~90% accurate end-to-end process and value stream map, without requiring formal workshops or extended discovery cycles.

Key Responsibilities

Process Discovery & Mapping

  • Rapidly map end-to-end processes (L2–L4) across functions
  • Identify roles, handoffs, decisions, controls, rework, and wait states
  • Capture system touchpoints, data flows, and integration gaps
  • Distinguish documented process from actual operating reality

Value Stream & Performance Analysis

  • Identify value-adding and non-value-adding activity
Surface sources of delay, complexity, and waste
  • Connect process performance to business outcomes and pain points
  • Provide a fact-based foundation for initiative scoping and prioritization

Future-State Design Enablement

  • Translate current-state insights into practical future-state process options
  • Pressure-test improvement ideas against operational and system constraints
  • Highlight trade-offs across speed, cost, risk and control
  • Support benefit hypothesis development without owning benefits

Transformation Integration & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Deploy quickly into transformation initiatives with minimal ramp-up
  • Partner closely with project leaders, sponsors, and operators
  • Apply consistent process and value stream standards across initiatives
  • Enable faster, higher-quality scoping and design decisions

Operating Principles

  • Fact-based and grounded in reality
  • Fast, pragmatic and outcome-oriented
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and incomplete information
  • Credible with operators and trusted by leaders
  • Maintains high standards of integrity, discretion, and respect for operators’ realities; surfaces issues constructively without blame
  • Comfortable being mostly right, fast — and refining with evidence
  • Able to infer process structure from incomplete, inconsistent, or conflicting inputs

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • A shared, accurate understanding of end-to-end process reality
  • Reduced debate driven by opinion; increased decisions driven by facts
  • Faster, higher-confidence initiative scoping by project leaders
  • Process and value stream artifacts actively used to drive change

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

  • Not a project manager or delivery owner
  • Not a Lean exercise or academic BPM role
  • Not a workshop-dependent facilitator
  • Not the final decision-maker on solution design

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • 7+ years of experience is required
