Position Overview

 

Primary focus is to support the Technical Service group evaluating adhesive performance with panel manufacturing and testing.

Job Responsibilities

 
  • Prepare and test samples following experimental designs provided by responsible chemist.

  • Responsible for maintaining housekeeping, chemical inventory, logging results and maintaining associated records.

  • Assist commercial and technical personnel in support of field performance evaluations and/or customer concerns.

  • Maintain a safe work area.
  • Manufacture and testing of Oriented Strand Board, Plywood and Particleboard in the pilot plant.
  • Assist with organizing and planning laboratory workflow.
  • Test wood specimens and accurately record data.
  • Manufacture and test adhesives in a lab environment.
  • Responsible for chemical inventory and ordering, maintain neat notebooks and data records.
  • Prepare reports of laboratory results as directed by the supervisor and/or chemist.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Become familiar with necessary SDS's. Assist with routine maintenance and repair of lab equipment.
  • Assist sales and technical service staff with field trials and customer related issues.

Minimum Qualifications

 
  • BS / BA degree in one of the following areas: Wood Science, Forestry, Sustainability, Renewable Resources or Chemistry
  • Knowledge of computer database management.
  • Good aptitude in mathematics.
  • Prior work experience in a laboratory environment
