Position Overview

 

Troubleshoot, calibrate, maintain, and install plant instrumentation and electrical systems. Perform maintenance programming on PLCs and basic electrical and instrumentation work. Assist in general and preventative maintenance activities with other technicians.

Job Responsibilities

 
  • Maintain electronic and pneumatic instrumentation systems in good operational condition. 
  • Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and making repairs when necessary. 
  • Assist supervisor and engineering in capital projects as they relate to instrumentation. 
  • Maintain current electronic and pneumatic instrumentation loop drawings and component specifications (with Electronics and Computer Technician), updating during any changes
  • Maintains control system hardware 
  • Troubleshoots and corrects instrumentation and control system problems (hardware and software)
  • Work with Process Control Engineer to Manages control system spare parts inventory 
  • Serves as instrumentation and controls team member for project teams
  • Works with Process Control Engineer to specify instrumentation and control system equipment 
  • Completes annual alarm and interlock testing
  • Installs, inspects, overhauls, calibrates, performs troubleshooting and maintains all the Plant s major electrical equipment including motors, generators, transformers, variable frequency drives, UPS and battery systems 
  • Competent, knowledgeable and experienced with Low and Medium Voltage 3 phase systems such as 480V, 2400V and 4160V 

Competencies

 
  • Proficient in Lock-out/Tag-out System (LOTO). 
  • The ability to gain a strong understanding and manage effective utilization of the company computerized maintenance system (SAP). 
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer and use Windows programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and others need to perform daily task. 
  • Proficient in ARC FLASH and NFPA 70E.
  • Knowledge of DCS programming and troubleshooting is a plus.
     

Minimum Qualifications

 
  • 5 years’ experience in industrial instrumentation and electrical 
  • Ability to read electronic and pneumatic schematics 
  • Ability to design and troubleshoot instrumentation systems 
  • Understanding of chemical plant processes while demonstrating good safety practices 
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to rotate weekend on-call responsibility 
  • Must be available for after-hour/weekend call-outs 
  • High School diploma or GED and Diploma from a Vocational school or Technical College
