Position Overview
As a Customer Account Specialist at Hexion, you are the backbone of the customer experience — ensuring that each order, from entry to delivery, meets the company’s standards for quality, safety, and reliability. By working closely with customers and internal teams, you help translate commercial commitments into operational success, reinforcing Hexion’s position as a trusted partner in the global chemical industry.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for customer accounts, building trust and maintaining long-term professional relationships
- Provide accurate and timely updates on order status, delivery schedules and product availability
- Manage the end-to-end order process from order entry to timely delivery
- Coordinate with the planning and logistics team to ensure timely and safe shipment of materials
- Investigate and resolve order discrepancies, delivery issues, billing issues or customer complaints quickly and professionally
- Identify recurring issues and work with internal teams on process improvements
- Track and report key customer metrics such as on-time delivery
- Maintain customer master data and specific customer needs
- Participate in SOX, internal and external audits as required
- Ensure appropriate delegation of authority and perform all duties in compliance with Hexion policies and procedures
- Crosstrain and provide backup for other customer service team members
- Explore/support initiatives focused on operational efficiency, cost reduction and customer satisfaction
- Partner with Commercial, Supply Chain, Logistics and Finance
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with 5+ years of relevant experience in customer service or operations.
- Skilled in MS Excel with strong knowledge of outlook, Word, Power point, Teams and SAP.
- Excellent communication skills – fluent in English (both verbal and written) with clear, confident and professional communication style.
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively in a fast-paced, international environment
- Customer focused problem solver with strong analytical skills, a continuous improvement mindset and a proactive, service-oriented attitude
- Collaborative team player who works cross-functionally, adapts quickly to change, and consistently meets commitments
