Position Overview
In the role of Logistics Manager – Europe you will lead and optimize logistics and procurement operations across Europe and Marine activities. This role is pivotal in enhancing Hexion’s competitive edge by delivering operational excellence, cost efficiency and compliance across all logistics modes.
Job Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
- Lead end-to-end logistics operations across truck, rail, barge, air and marine transport.,
- Manage external warehouses, terminals, and transload facilities.
- Oversee Global Marine logistics activities.
- Drive logistics tenders, contract transitions, and supplier onboarding.
- Develop and maintain standardized logistics processes, workflows, and performance metrics (ISO-certified).
- Champion a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary liaison between Logistics, Business, Site Operations, Customer Service, Finance, and Supply Chain.
Procurement Leadership
- Translate business and supply chain requirements into actionable logistics strategies.
- Lead sourcing strategy, tendering, and contract negotiations for freight forwarding air transport, terminals, and warehouse services.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key logistics suppliers.
- Provide insights on market trends, emerging logistics technologies, and best practices.
Trade Compliance
- Manage EU customs licenses and procedures (AEO, end-use, Excise, etc.).
- Act as the primary contact for customs authorities and consultants.
Business Partnership & Performance
- Lead performance reviews with logistics service providers, driving continuous improvement in cost, service, and reliability improvements.
- Represent logistics performance in SIOP/S&OE meetings.
- Deliver monthly logistics performance reports and actionable insights to business and operations teams.
- Partner cross-functionally with Procurement, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Commercial teams to align logistics with business needs.
- Conduct strategic “deep dives” on assigned logistics modes to identify efficiency and innovation opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 10years’ experience managing multi-modal logistics operations.
- Background in supply chain and logistics management
- Experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry preferred
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and financial skills.
- Proven success leading change and influencing across matrixed organizations.
- Minimum 5 years of SAP experience and logistics systems
- Minimum 5 years of Marine bidding experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of hazardous materials shipping and regulatory compliance.
