Position Overview

 

To ensure all plant activities are performed in compliance with HSE policies, standards and regulations by initiating, developing and improving environmental policies, procedures and trainings in order to comply with legal and Company requirements, create awareness amongst employees, increase knowledge and drive a solid HSE culture.

To continuously improve implementation and maintenance of HSE management compliance system. Provides technical expertise to achieve Pernis site and Headquarters goals for HSE performance.

Job Responsibilities

 

Legal compliance:

 

  • Responsible for keeping environmental reports up to date in compliance with environmental regulations;
  • Reports on all environmental issues;
  • Keep up-to-date with proposed and actual changes in environmental regulations, so the organization’s HSE policies remain current and relevant;
  • Executes MRA;
  • Initiates research on environmental issues;
  • Initiates, defines and outlines internal policy based on legislation;
  • Regulatory compliance check;
  • Advises management regarding environmental improvements and issues regarding improvement on regulatory compliance;
  • Submit environmental permit applications
  • Inform proactively to internal and external stakeholders about environmental issues;
  • Major contribution to important and long range Hexion goals like Permit to Operate and Energy Transition  

 

Best practices:

 

  • Initiates and executes best practice studies;
  • Prioritizes best practice compliance activities.

 

EHS Performance:

 

  • Identifying risks and areas for improvement;
  • Supports incident investigations and analysis of HSE incidents;
  • Accountable for registration and documentation;
  • Decides importance of relevant data;
  • Translates best practice outcomes into policy improvements;
  • Monitor and evaluate the organization’s overall environmental performance to identify recurring problems and areas for improvements;
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures so that the established environmental targets are met.
  • EHS metric reporting: weekly/monthly internal reporting in corporate Metric collection system and site KPI scorecard;

 

Energy covenant:

 

  • Responsible for executing goals which intend to improve the environment from an energy perspective. Responsible for compliance ETS.

 

Management System:

 

  • Implementation of corporate EHS guidelines and standards;
  • Development and improvement of Environmental management (ISO 14001) processes and site environmental procedures;
  • Implementation of Environmental management process, metric system;
  • Responsible for maintaining environmental (ISO 14001)  procedures and legislation in Management System and training.

Minimum Qualifications

 

•    Master or Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental sciences or equivalent combination of training & experience.
•    At least 14 years experience in the chemical industry; 
•    Is the environmental (regulations) specialist within the company
•    Is able to (contribute to) develop new concepts, techniques and standards in the Environmental field   
•    Should possess leadership, training, presentation,  problem solving, and decision making skills; 
•    Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization; 
•    Should have strong oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English
•    Should be persuasive, independent, accurate, creative, diplomatic and a team player 
•    Must be able to work at high (peak) stress levels

Other

 

If currently an employee of the Company, you must have current satisfactory work performance and in most cases, have been in your current role for 18 months.
