Chemical Engineer - PDP Program

Position Overview

During this 30 months PDP program, you will learn all the ins-and-outs of many of the relevant manufacturing processes within Hexion VAD business, after which you will have the opportunity to continue to grow into a challenging Chemical Engineering role at Pernis.

Your focus will be to deliver improvement projects for the Versatic Acids & Derivatives business at Hexion VAD Pernis and Moerdijk sites. 

Your sponsor will be the site manager and he will be your guidance and direct manager for the duration of the program. 

Per assignment (with a duration of 4 to 6 months) you will carry out several productivity improvements projects. Guidance per assignment is via a mentor.  

Job Responsibilities

• The program is divided in 4-6 assignments of 4-6 months each. During this structured program, you will experience different functional areas of our company.
• You will be challenged to demonstrate your abilities in chemical, chemical engineering or related analytical or engineering/technical subjects.
• You will handle projects and deliver assignments independently under the guidance of a Mentor, assigned to your specific assignment(s). The project assignments will help you gain insights into Manufacturing and VAD business, while being involved in daily operations as well.
• A diverse and continuing training-on-the-job supports your professional and personal development during the Development Program. Training includes Six Sigma tools, Project management tools, Personal Leadership Essentials, Finance Basics and Presentation Skills among others.
• You will be assigned to a personal Sponsor who will help you achieve your individual goals through personal advice during the program.
• Regular performance review sessions during and after each assignment will be offered to steer your development.

Minimum Qualifications

• As a minimum Masters Degree, good academic records with Major in Chemical Engineering
• Between 0 to 1 years of working experience in the chemical industry;

Additional technical skills:

• Capability to produce process mass / heat balances
• Clear thinker with excellent analytical skills and are critical about data.
• Analytical problem solving & techniques;
• Knowledge of process simulation techniques; 
• Can produce reactor / plant concept on basis of reaction mechanism, reaction kinetics, mass/heat transfer limitations
• Capability to come to separation concepts on basis of thermodynamics and physical properties
