Position Overview
Location: China (Shanghai or WFH)
Reports To: Country Leader – China (role expanding to China & APAC)
Function: Commercial / Sales – Smartech Systems
We are seeking a Senior Sales Manager to drive revenue growth and market expansion for Smartech Systems across China. This role owns the full commercial cycle — from prospecting and consultative selling through contract close and account growth — for our portfolio of industrial sensing, automation, and AI-driven optimization systems deployed in heavy industrial environments (e.g., wood products, pulp & paper).
Reporting to the Country Leader for China — a role that will expand to cover China and the broader APAC region — you will be the commercial face of Smartech Systems in one of our highest-priority growth markets. You will build customer relationships from the plant floor to the executive suite and translate advanced technology into measurable operational and financial value.
Job Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Own and deliver the China sales target for Smartech Systems, spanning new business and account expansion
- Identify, qualify, and close opportunities across wood products, pulp & paper, and adjacent heavy-industry segments
- Build and manage a healthy, accurately forecasted pipeline in CRM
- Develop and execute territory and account plans aligned to the regional growth strategy
Customer & Relationship Management
- Establish trusted relationships with decision-makers from plant operations through the C-suite
- Serve as the primary commercial point of contact across the full customer lifecycle
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and contracts in line with company guidelines
- Represent the voice of the customer internally to shape offerings and priorities
Technical & Consultative Selling
- Translate Smartech Systems’ sensing, control, and AI capabilities into clear operational and EBITDA impact for customers
- Lead value-based, consultative sales engagements alongside engineering and product teams
- Coordinate technical demonstrations, pilots, and proof-of-value deployments
Market Development & Growth
- Shape the China go-to-market strategy in partnership with the Country Leader
- Provide market intelligence on customers, competitors, and industry trends
- Support the future build-out of the commercial organization across APAC
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, product management, operations, and service teams to ensure successful delivery
- Coordinate with global commercial teams to share best practices and align on strategy
- Work with marketing to localize positioning and campaigns for the China market
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Forestry or other related discipline
- 10+ year total experience in wood panels and related industry
- 8+ years of B2B sales experience selling industrial technology, automation, instrumentation, or capital equipment
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets in complex, technical sales cycles
- Experience selling into heavy industrial environments (e.g., wood products, pulp & paper, process manufacturing)
- Strong consultative and solution-selling skills, including executive-level engagement
- Fluency in Mandarin and professional working proficiency in English
- with the ability to travel domestically up to 60% and internationally as needed
- Established network within China’s wood products or pulp & paper industries
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling automation, sensing, PLC/DCS/SCADA controls, or AI/ML-enabled industrial solutions
- Experience supporting or building sales operations across APAC markets
- Familiarity with value/outcome-based selling and ROI/EBITDA-based business cases
- MNC working experience
