Position Overview
Work as part of a diverse team to produce adhesives and chemicals such as thermoset resins for sustainable wood products including plywood and particle board. Function as part of a respectful, safe, and environmentally responsible manufacturing team. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and rules. Hexion will provide training on job duties and safety requirements.
Job Responsibilities
EH&S
- Proactively seek to identify and eliminate hazards in the workplace.
- Understand and ensure safety standards are met.
- Participate in safety training and audits.
- Maintain working area in clean and safe conditions at all times.
- Assist in permit generation for site maintenance and contractor work.
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure the safe handling of hazardous materials and waste.
- Ensure environmental incidents are properly reported and emergency response activities are activated.
- Follow procedures so operations activities occur within the limit and boundaries of our operating permits and regulations.
Production
- Produce products to meet the requirements of Hexion customer specifications.
- Transfer and package raw materials and products within the plant using automated and manual systems.
- Record batch information and manage inventory using Hexion’s computer warehouse system.
- Contribute positively to the team environment and communicate between different shifts, departments, and external resources.
- Troubleshoot issues with equipment and communicate with site maintenance to address issues.
- Perform analytical testing of in-process samples and finished products.
- Report deviations from the production schedule and help perform root cause analyses to minimize future lost time.
- Understand, support, and ensure all company policies and procedures are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies
- 3+ years’ experience in similar role
- Chemical handling experience
- Understanding of process equipment
- Ability to use SAP
- Experienced forklift operator
- Familiar with Microsoft Office
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years’ experience in an industrial environment, willing to train and learn.
- Ability to work shifts (rotating and on call).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Mechanical aptitude
