Position Overview

 

In addition to plant production, the supervisor functions as a liaison with all departments (Resin, HCHO, Catalyst, Logistics, Supply chain, Maintenance, EH&S).  During off-hours or turnarounds, the supervisor may have overall responsibility for the site, including decision-making and direction in emergencies.  Supervisors will also be expected to provide input and guidance on the development of technicians and other production personnel.

Job Responsibilities

 

Production

Investigate and resolve all day to day production issues within the unit.  Elevate to Production Superintendent as necessary.  Act as liaison between leadership team and production teams regarding changes and production team needs.  Communicate requested tasks to operators and ensure they are completed. Participate in incident investigations and cause map creation. Assist Production Administrative Supervisor with scheduling operating technicians to cover shifts to meet production demands.  Work with Production Superintendent, Regional Scheduler and Logistics Leader to ensure production schedule needs are met.  Work with Maintenance Supervisor to ensure equipment repair needs are properly identified and prioritized using the work order system.  Ensure that all standard operating procedures and recipe instructions are clearly understood and followed. Ensure that established processes and procedures are followed by team. Ensure that annual SOP reviews are completed.  Ensure inventory processes are executed as required.  When appropriate, assume off-hour site responsibility and manage emergency situations.  Maintain accurate entries for Shift reporting and follow-up with deficiencies.  Lead inventory cycle counts for assigned areas and materials as required.  Assist and manage assigned areas during unit shutdowns.  Always maintain work areas in a clean and safe condition including housekeeping audits and assignment of tasks.  Ensure proper completion of SAP movements for each shift which includes PI/MES sheets, open process orders, settlements and failed message errors.  Ensure team performs the necessary transactions, enters correct information, close out the PI/MES sheets, documents rework material and repack transactions are executed correctly. Act as new hire contact for training weeks.  Direct trainees daily schedule.  Attend 30, 60, 90-day training reviews with trainee and Superintendent.  Monitor for training needs and coach where necessary.  Conduct skills-based recertification tests. 

 

Quality
Manage out of spec material by coordinating w/author, Production Superintendent and QA Supervisor along with appropriate documentation.  Ensure T-changes/ T-blends as prescribed and communicate if there is an issue preventing the rework from occurring.  Lead the NCR process and corrective actions as assigned and ensure completion in a timely manner.  Ensure NCR forms are completed with required information pertaining to out of spec condition.  Submit findings and action plan to QA.  Initiate and complete quality incident investigations. Lead and/or participate in quality improvement teams.  Perform routine maintenance and calibration on testing equipment.  Ensure all operators are qualified and training is current and up to date.

 

EHS

Work with EH&S coordinators to verify all operators are trained and qualified to safely perform all duties.  Lead/Investigate/Close all minor to medium Gensuite concern reports submitted for assigned areas. Elevate major concerns to EHS Leader and Production Superintendent. Ensure team presents solutions for Gensuite concerns that are entered.  Ensure safety standards are met.  Participate with the site EH&S committee as necessary.  Participate in safety training and audits.  Initiate safety incident investigations. Review/adjust/modify confined space hazard evaluations and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.  Ensure all operators PMs are completed and closed as required.  Schedule and perform operator PMs as they are generated.  Lead daily/weekly/monthly Tailgate or Toolbox meetings - follow-up and investigate issues and safety concerns.  Promote the monthly safety message with teams. 

 

Leadership

Manage and correct behavior by coaching and providing feedback to the associate and escalating concerns to manager if formal corrective action is required.  Document and report continuous issues with behavior and competencies.  Perform operator bi-annual performance reviews and goal reviews. Lead by example and demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to lead change.  Accountability for housekeeping, process updates, etc. with accuracy and honesty.  Demonstrate a "can do" attitude.  Find safe and effective means to remove barriers and roadblocks to improve productivity and quality.  Lead/Own 5S initiatives for the area and support 5S initiatives for the site.  Ensure 5S initiative moves forward in the assigned area(s).  Drive improvement and progress within your team.  Create an atmosphere of progressive thinking and action.  Provide support as needed for operators to achieve their goals.

Minimum Qualifications

 
  • 5+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
