Position Overview

 

To prepare, coordinate and guide maintenance whether preventative, corrective, or predictive in all departments within the plant. Lead and schedule shutdown or outage activities to ensure that the plant runs optimally with regard to obtaining business results. 

 

To minimize financial risks and costs by managing Maintenance activities, contractors, vendors, inventory, and service contracts (i.e., delivered quantities and quality in relation to agreed upon contracts, accounting keys and invoices) in line with corporate guidelines, in order to optimize company’s business performance on the site. Drives long term positive relationships within a culture of intrinsic safety and continuous improvement. Function as part of a safety sensitive site, report fit for duty and positively contribute to an environmentally sound manufacturing team.  Comply with all policies, procedures, and rules.  Participate in safety committees.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating and scheduling maintenance work, ensuring that maintenance and project work is carried out safely and in a safe environmentally compliant effective and efficient way.  The Maintenance Leader is the primary liaison between operations and maintenance and reporting of work done.  
  • Involved with the development of new maintenance technicians, providing direction to contracted services and is the lead between the operations and maintenance for troubleshooting all mechanical equipment issues and completing repairs/replacements/upgrades of all mechanical equipment on the Site.  
  • Maximizing internal and external maintenance work forces productivity and work quality by eliminating potential delays and obstacles through proper planning and coordination of parts, machine time and manpower.   
  • Minimize equipment downtime through co-ordination of maintenance work with production scheduling. The associate is responsible for the maintenance scheduling activities for the site and responsible for the productivity, prioritization and completion of all work requests to ensure the site meets its performance objectives. 
  • Reviews work order notifications daily ensuring all fields are completed and information is accurate before processing notification into a work order. 
  • Processes work orders from conversion to work order from notification to planning, scheduling through to confirmation and equipment record updating. Processing includes obtaining and evaluating quotations for parts and service. 
  • Ensure routine PM and inspection tasks are executed as planned and recommend changes/upgrades as required to improve equipment reliability. 
  • Maintain the integrity of Hexion Canada Inc. required standards 
  • Monitors work order backlog to bring forward work orders for planning and scheduling based on priority and availability of other required trade groups. 
  • Schedule/assign personnel, orders equipment and ensures materials are available. 
    • Participates in equipment failure root cause analysis  
    • Coordinates and schedules shutdowns and maintenance upgrade projects.  
    • Inspect, assemble/disassemble, troubleshoot, and repair all types of rotating equipment used on the site.  
    • Troubleshoots mechanical system to include pumps, fans, blowers, gearboxes, etc.  and investigates repair and rebuild parts requirements for all mechanical equipment  
    • Assists in obtaining & evaluating quotations for parts and service and assists in ordering and obtaining services and parts for repairs and replacements. 
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks safely and works in the field as required.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate in French and English. 
  • Post-secondary certification or equivalent in a trade is preferred 
  • Related industry experience is preferred 
  • Reading and writing, ability to coordinate activities 
  • Basic computer skills 
  • 10% travel 
  • Fit for Duty 
  • Fitness Capable, lift requirement up to 55 pounds 
  • Physical: Able to wear a full or half-face respirator. Walking, driving, standing, lifting, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, at heights, stooping, kneeling, reaching, fingering, talking, hearing and seeing.  Work in all weather conditions for field scoping and commissioning. 
  • Aptitudes: Must possess the ability to understand the meaning of words and their ideas, as well as instructions and their underlying principles.  Perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately and possess eye-hand motor coordination.   
  • Temperaments: Must have the ability to accept responsibility, perform duties under stress, adapt to situations requiring preciseness, and adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.  Must be able to adapt to situations involving the interpretation of feelings, ideas, or facts; be able to influence people in the opinions, attitudes, or judgments; and be able to generalize, evaluate, make decisions, and perform repetitive work.
