Position Overview
Responsibilities include the safe and environmentally responsible production, testing and manufacturing of products within the prescribed quality specification ranges. Participate in the plant's safety, environmental, quality, and production programs and audits. Includes and troubleshoots equipment; Participate in housekeeping, maintenance and equipment preparation activities.
Job Responsibilities
The operator of the urea-formaldehyde resin manufacturing process is required to perform the following tasks during the working day.:
- Meets all TSS and plant requirements. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Carry out inspection checks of the mixing container of the various chemical components
- Maintain a commitment to safety by preventing illness and injury and advocating for environmental protection.
- Wear the PPE prescribed for the task at hand. Including, but not limited to, hard hats, steel heels, sealed goggles, and respirators.
- Operate manufacturing process control equipment and execute operational requirements such as loading and unloading trucks.
- Use of forklift.
- Issue and monitor safe work, hot work and confined space permits.
- Monitor the trajectory and record operating conditions.
- Follow the procedures to produce a product that complies with quality.
- Maintain accurate material inventories.
- Other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school or GED completed
- College diploma in a preferred technical discipline
- 2 years of relevant experience in the general industrial or chemical manufacturing industry preferred
- Basic proficiency in the English language
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to perform/solve mathematical problems.
- Experience in the operation of forklifts or the ability to obtain a forklift certification.
- Must work well with others and function in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently
- Great attention to detail
- Have troubleshooting skills and mechanical skills.
- Ability to use a computer effectively. Knowledge of the Microsoft suite of applications.
- Knowledge of SAP is an asset.
- Ability to read, develop and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating SOPs, maintenance instructions, manuals and diagrams or schematics.
Other requirements:
- Physical: walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, twisting, reaching, kneeling, reaching, manipulating, fingering, speaking, hearing, seeing. Walk up and down the stairs every day.
- Skills: Intelligence, verbal, numerical, motor coordination, and familiarity with TDG traffic duties and regulations.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- You may need to wear a respirator for confined spaces and similar activities and we cannot allow facial hair.
- Ability to accept responsibility, adapt to situations involving interpretations of information or facts; evaluate and decide on the action plan, carry out repetitive work; perform energized tasks; adapt to situations that require precision" and adapt to changing tasks and responsibilities.
- Attention to detail, sitting, and monitoring activities on a computer screen.
- Ability to communicate information to others regarding production, quality, ESS items.
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule.
- Diversified work involves other movements such as climbing tanks near a ladder, carrying equipment, using heavy tools, attaching harnesses, and working at heights.
- Perform repetitive tasks inside tanks using shovels and scrapers.
